Many common problems in the upload, camera triggering, and programming process are caused because the wrong app version is being used with your Radian. To avoid these common mistakes, please be sure to update both your Radian and device apps to their most current versions.  Data transfers between your phone and Radian are specific to compatible software versions between the devices: using R1 software with a Radian R2 will cause upload problems, as will using R2 software with Radian R1.  The tutorial to update your Radian from R1 to R2 can be found here

To check your Radian's software version, please check the steps below. Certain settings will help you differentiate if your Radian is R1 or R2:

1) Radian R1

  1. The box will not contain a notice that says it is an R2 Radian.
  2. On first use, Radian R1 moves CW (as viewed from above) at startup (this is its preset factory upload).
  3. No light will flash during the initial Radian dance calibration.
2) Radian R2
  1. The box will contain a notice saying your Radian is R2.
  2. On first use, Radian R2 moves CCW (as viewed from above) at startup (this is its preset factory upload).
  3. The notification LED will turn green during the initial Radian dance calibration.

We've found this to be the primary reason for upload problems.  If you are experiencing further problems, please refer to our other tutorials that deal more with device-specific problems (such as Android volume limits) that inhibit data transfer between your device and the Radian.
